My morning time pregnancy skincare routine.
Hi all, So some of you know and some of you don’t know that I am currently 5 months pregnant. I have started to talk about it more on social media now as I may have some tips for mammys to be that might come in useful. I have always loved skincare but now I’m loving it even more since being pregnant as it’s my little way of pampering myself when I’m absolutely done and in need of TLC (current pregnant ladies you will know what I mean) In my first trimester I was plagued by those raging pregnancy hormones which inevitably wreaked havoc on my skin so I knew I needed to change up my skincare. Firstly, let me give you my skin type deets as this will help you decide if these products are for you.
Skintype: Normal to Dehydrated. Prone to congestion in the T zone and underskin texture in the cheek area and forehead. Also prone to some breakouts along the jawline. Little to no redness but prone to dullness.
Morning skin care routine
I keep it simple in the morning as who has time for a full on spa morning. I start off with giving my skin a quick clean with Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic.
I was never a toner girl but this is better than a regular toner. It doesn’t strip the skin of natural oils. It brightens and refreshes the skin without the skin feeling tight or dry.
After that I pat in a serum to really get my skin going. I am obsessed with Clairins Hydra Essential Bi-Phase serum.
This is a light non greasy water based serum. It’s aim is to hydrate dull and even irritated skin. I have found the texture in my skin reduced due to this glorious product. My skin knows when I have skipped this step as it doesn’t feel as hydrated. It’s not an anti aging serum it’s purely to help the skin retain its moisture by helping the skin increase production of hyaluronic acid.
After serum comes moisturiser My favourite moisturiser for the morning is the Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser for normal/combo skin. This feels like a rich cream without leaving a greasy residue on the skin. I love it for hydration and it has some really nice ingredients in it to help the skin such as vitamin E, and advocado oil. But again it is not an anti aging product. My night time routine is where all the anti aging products take the stage.
Eye cream is an important step in my morning routine. I am currently using Origins Ginzing eye cream to brighten and de puff the eye area. Again it is not anti aging but in the morning I am all about hydration especially around the eye area. With ingredients such as Caffeine, Panax Ginseng, and with natural optic brighteners this cream really works to refresh and restore radiance.
As my daily moisturiser doesn’t have an SPF I like to use the Bioderma Photoderm Max SPF 50 after. It is a non greasy formula that doesn’t leave white marks on the skin. It’s also fragrance free and so far my skin has not broken out from it like other SPF creams do.
And there you have it! My morning time routine that is really working for my skin during pregnancy. If you are not pregnant but looking for some really hydrating products these could also work for you.
